Savithri Jagannatha Rao

Smt. Savithri Jagannatha Rao - She started her teaching stint at Kalakshetra in 1962 and travelled and performed in many of Smt.Rukmini Devi’s dance drama productions across India. She founded “Pradakshina”- a centre for the promotion of Indian Art, History and Culture. Her immense passion and dedication for the art form has led her to travel across the globe to teach as well as conduct dance workshops and lectures. Smt. Savithri Jagannatha Rao has also been invited as an External Examiner and as a Visiting Lecturer for Bharathanatyam by many Universities. She was a panel of Iyal Isai Nadaga Mandram. Smt. Savithri Jagannatha Rao was conferred the title of “Acharya Ratna” by the organization Utaraa at Hyderabad. Since 2007, Smt.Savithri Jagannatha Rao has been actively involved with the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival, USA and at 2011 festival at Cleveland; she was awarded the “Nritya Kala Sagaram” for her years of service to Indian Classical Arts. She is highly passionate about Carnatic Music, Painting and WildLife.
